Another happy user who has been using this product for a couple of years was also satisfied with the results. She says the key to this product's effectiveness is that you should apply it on the first sign of symptoms. Waiting for it to be an open sore won't help much. If you apply it early, it will heal the sore completely and the sore may never break open the skin.

While unhappy users review that Abreva didn't work on the cold sores even though they applied it on the first sign of symptoms. For them the cream didn't help with the pain and didn't treat the cold sore either and hence they were unhappy with this expensive and ineffective product.

The fact remains though that
more users found the product helpful rather than a waste.

Makeupalley users gave this treatment an average rating of 3.7/5. Only 73% of users said that they will buy this product again. Again, one of the major issue for the products un-popularity was its price. The packaging too seems to be another issue with the users. They find the tube too small and claim that a lot of cream squirts out and this expensive cream is wasted as a result. Although many sing its praise and say that Abreva aborts cold sores when used at the first tingle/itch.

For some the cream was so effective that they saw the results within 24hrs of use. There are those too who are not very impressed with Abreva and the cream not only slowed the healing process of the cold sore but also caused it to leave a mark.

471 out of 488 reviewers have given Abreva an average rating of 4.6/5. 97% will recommend this product to others. The most common complain was the cost of the product as many found it expensive.

Abreva Reviews

Abreva is a non-prescription drug used for treating cold sores. It essentially works not by attacking the virus causing herpes, but by changing the cell wall of nearby healthy cells, thereby making them immune to further viral attack. Doing so shortens the healing time and soothes the itching and burning sensation as well as other symptoms of cold sores. Abreva works best when applied at the first signs of infection.

Abreva Tube Reviews

Amazon users have given Abreva cold sore treatment an average rating of 3.9/5. While many deem it a miracle treatment, other seems not too much satisfied with it. One of the main causes for a slightly low rating is not its performance, but the price; as the users feel that cheaper alternatives work just as well. User reviews are encouraging. One of the user claims that early application of Abreva stops the growth of cold sore and caused it to heal in a week.
